Dental floss is a synthetic cord of filaments that is used to clean gaps between the teeth where a toothbrush cannot reach. The correct way to floss is by wrapping around 18 inches of floss around your index fingers (1.5 ft) and leaving about 1-2 inches of floss between them. Slide the floss up between the teeth using a back and forth motion. Create a “C” shape that scrapes the side of the tooth. Gently slide the floss up and curve it around the gum line. Ensure that you do not jam the floss between the teeth or apply more than necessary force as you may end up cutting or bruising your gums. Once done, adjust the floss on your fingers to have a clean section of 1-2 inches of floss to repeat. Dentists recommend that you must floss at least once a day for best results. You can either floss before or after you brush. The important part is to clean your teeth.
